The Chinese Association of Functional Linguistics was founded in
1995. Currently, the association has over 150 active members,
most of whom are teachers of English and/or linguistics at various
institutions of higher education. A national conference is held every
other year, alternating with an SFL-oriented conference on discourse
analysis. The 11th conference will be held in 2009 in Beijing.

The China Association of English-Chinese Discourse Analysis was
founded in 2007. Currently, the association has over 150 active
members, most of whom are teachers of English and/or linguistics at
various institutions of higher education and they are essentially
systemicists. A national conference is held every other year,
alternating with a Chinese national conference on systemic functional
linguistics. The 12th national conference on discourse analysis will be
held in 2010 in Qingdao, Shandong Province.
